PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:
The Controller will direct the overall operation of the department to ensure that the established financial goals of the company and the hotel are met or exceeded. The Controller will promote an atmosphere of doing “the right thing” by modeling and communicating the company’s mission, vision and values.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
Education and/or Experience
- Five years accounting management experience and/or
- Completion of several college level accounting courses
- Exceptional analytical abilities
- Exceptional math skills
- Required to use discretion in dealing with confidential information, exhibiting a high degree of integrity and ethics. Strong organization, problem-solving, follow-up and telephone skills
- A strong understanding of Federal, State and Local labor laws, wage and hour laws, and related legislation
- Proven ability to develop trusting relationships and encourage an open environment
- Excellent interpersonal and business communication skills, complimented by professional maturity, and strong leadership skills.
- Ability to interpret and advise property management according to the employment service and innkeeping laws of the jurisdiction (city, county, state and federal)
- Strong organization, problem-solving, follow-up and telephone skills
Computer Skills:
- Strong computer skills, proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Knowledgeable with computer accounting programs
- Ability to operate computer systems as required by the hotel
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: supervising the financial dept., planning and implementing financial procedures and systems; maintaining effective cash control systems; preparing reports outlining hotel's financial position; prepare required governmental reports; maintaining file of all contracts, insurance policies, reports, expenses, etc; participate in the preparation of the annual hotel budget; ensure vendor audit and paycheck audit are conducted per pre-determined schedule.
