PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:

The Sales Manager is responsible for maximizing the occupancy and the average daily rate of the hotel, while upholding excellent guest service and accommodations to all guests. Is also responsible for meeting and exceeding revenue goals by developing new accounts and growing current hotel accounts in a profitable and win-win selling approach and exhibiting sales leadership necessary to ensure the hotel is #1 or 2 of competitive set in rev par performance. The Sales Manager will promote an atmosphere of doing “the right thing” by modeling and communicating the company’s mission, vision and values.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum one year related hospitality sales experience.
  • Requires knowledge of general sales techniques, yield management, and customer service skills.
  • Business communication skills
  • Must have own reliable transportation and posses a valid state driver's license in order to make sales calls.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This position will work closely with the hotel’s preferred accounts and group reservations. The Sales Manager manages the sales effort and supports the General Manager on operational issues; is responsible for the sales and marketing of the hotel; creating and developing new business; recruit, hire, train, coach, supervise, develop and motivate sales team, communicating with all departments’ sales matters relevant to each department.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieve a minimum of 90% of productivity goals and 100% of activity goals, as established by management
  • Direct Sales – target appointment-oriented sales calls to ensure a successful direct sales program, in accordance with goals established by department budget and marketing plan
  • Key Account Management - Maximize current hotel key accounts by identifying and capturing those that offer revenue growth
  • New Account Development - Capture competitor's accounts through networking, research and reader board surveys in order to target and solicit those most probable to generate new business
  • Yield Management - Utilize yield management techniques by profitably negotiating room rates and function space commitments in order to enhance the hotel's financial performance
  • Account Service and Management - Maintain well-documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file management system in order to service client and employer in the most expedient, organized and knowledgeable manner
  • Product Knowledge - Conduct research, surveys, personal investigation and studies market place and territory in order to effectively capitalize on the hotel's strengths and competitor's weaknesses and capabilities.
  • Community/Trade Involvement - Actively participates in those community and trade organizations that most benefit the hotel's exposure to the community and the hotel's bottom line.
  • Continually target and prospects for new business through telemarketing, individual creativity and innovation
  • Develop strong customer relations through frequent communication and the use of professional, courteous and ethical interpersonal interaction
  • Develop customer profiles and maintains an effective trace system, including trace dates and references, in order to best meet client needs, resulting in superior account service and increased revenues
  • Represent self, the hotel and Advent Hotel Advisors with the highest level of integrity, professionalism, a service-focused approach and a caring, sincere attitude at all times
  • Exhibit a positive and involved team attitude to all hotel departments and maintains open communications with all co-workers for the best overall performance of the hotel.
  • Contribute to the hotel's overall sales effort during planning and strategy phases through research and knowledge input.
  • Assist with the development of the Sales department budget to include monitoring and adhering to budget guidelines and goals
  • Any other duties as assigned by the General Manager
