JOE BIEHL
Chief Financial Officer
Joe Biehl is a C-level operations and finance executive with 20 years of experience in leading public and private, medium-size and small companies through challenging periods of growth, mergers and acquisitions, and IPOs. He is adept at increasing enterprise value through creating vision, strategic planning, effecting mergers and acquisitions, improving operational performance, negotiating transactions, increasing shareholder confidence and improving all areas of finance and accounting responsibilities including Sarbanes Oxley requirements. He has a broad base of industry experience with emphasis in alternative energy (solar), real estate, lodging and leisure, technology, services, and non-profit industries.
Mr. Biehl’s career highlights and accomplishments include being the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer of a $50 million IT consulting firm; an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of a $1 billion dollar NYSE hospitality company; and playing a key role in Starwood Hotels $270 million IPO when he served as Vice President and Corporate Controller. He has Big-Four accounting experience having worked for KPMG International, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Ernst & Young, and also has extensive SEC and private company experience. He has provided executive leadership during periods of extreme growth, raised over $800 million of equity capital in multiple public offerings through the investment banking firms of Merrill Lynch, CS first Boston, Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns, Banc of America Securities, Wachovia Securities, Raymond James, A. G. Edwards, and Collins Stewart; negotiated and managed significant debt facilities with major financial institutions; led executive management teams in the regular review of potential customer contracts and merger and acquisition opportunities ranging from $20 million to $650 million in value; earned credibility with Wall Street and earned the respect of tough, critical, institutional investors (Fidelity, Capital Growth, Cohen & Steers, Strong Capital, etc.); as well as resolved a significant number of complex GAAP and SEC accounting and reporting issues. He has also provided strategic and annual planning, best practices finance and accounting implementation, public offering, mergers and acquisitions, Sarbanes Oxley, and general business consulting services.
Mr. Biehl is a Director of Native American Connections, a non-profit organization that serves the urban Indian population and tribal communities throughout the Southwest. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of Brigham Young University’s School of Accountancy.
