Jim Melvin - Vice President Finance & Accounting - Ardent Hotel Advisors

Prior to joining Ardent, Jim was with Hyatt Corporation for 32 years. Most recently, he was Vice President, Hyatt Shared Service Center with responsibilities to establish and operate the Finance and Accounting Shared Service Center for all Hyatt Hotels in North America and Caribbean. During his tenure with Hyatt, he has served in other corporate positions as Assistant Vice President Hotel Accounting, Divisional Controller and Regional Controller.

Jim worked his way through college while working for a small hotel in College Park, Maryland. He earned his B.S. Degree in Business Management from The University of Maryland, College Park. After graduation, he continued his passion for the hotel business by joining Hyatt at the Hyatt Regency Washington, where he quickly advanced through operations before moving into the accounting department. He then went on to become Controller for Hyatt Regency Baltimore, Hyatt Regency Crystal City and then Controller for Hyatt's flagship hotel, Hyatt Regency Atlanta.

While in Atlanta, Jim became Regional Controller, Divisional Controller then Assistant Vice President Hotel Accounting for Hyatt Corporation.

Jim is a member of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) and was previously on the board of directors of the Chicago Chapter.
